Center Coordinator

The USO of North Carolina, Inc., a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to strengthen America’s service members and their families by connecting them to family, home and country, is accepting applications for the position of Center Coordinator for the Piedmont Area.

The Center Coordinator is responsible for procuring and delivering supplies and managing storage and warehouse facilities to ensure operations of facilities and events in the USO of North Carolina Piedmont Area.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Duties):

  • Order, procure, distribute, and deliver supplies for the airport center, MEPS and events within the community in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for helping to build relationships within the USO of NC community by serving as an ambassador at all times.
  • Management of day-to-day warehouse and supply operations. Serve as knowledgeable resource related to transport, physical distribution, storage, and inventory management of supplies, equipment and materials that support USO of NC programs & operations. Monitor supply on hand and coordinate timely ordering to replenish stock.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of supplies and assets within approved budgetary guidelines. Ensure that all applicable sanitary and food-handling regulations are followed.
  • Assist Area Director with budget oversight of the Charlotte Airport Center P&L lines for Programs & Services, Admin Office Supplies, Maintenance Supplies, & Program Supplies.
  • Keep Area Director informed of follow-ups & potential problems on a daily basis.
  • Promote organization and events through various messaging platforms as coordinated with the Area Director and USO of NC Communications Director.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Specifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • A valid driver’s license and good driving record is required as you will be using a company vehicle for the majority of your duties.
  • Must be able to pass a rigorous TSA background check to work in secure areas of Charlotte-Douglas International Airport.
  • Knowledge and proven experience assisting with supplies and programs.
  • Work requires physical labor to include walking, standing, sitting, lifting, reaching, stooping, bending, pushing, and pulling. Must be able to lift and support the weight of 50 pounds in handling supplies.
  • Ability to work as part of a team or independently on specific projects.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills. General knowledge of military community preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in written and oral communications as well as knowledge of various software programs including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills. Ability to interact with USO of NC Leadership, the general public and military audiences at a variety of levels with integrity and professionalism.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment related to controversial and/or culturally sensitive subjects. Ability to handle confidential information with tact and poise.
  • Must be punctual, organized and self-motivated, with the ability to quickly and easily adapt to changing organizational needs.
  • Ability to perform basic math and follow proper cash/donation handling and reporting procedures.
Preferred Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Minimum of 1-3 years work experience in inventory management, retail, customer service, recreation facility or related role. Relevant experience in a not-for-profit, military, multicultural and/or global organization preferred.
  • Familiarity with the military community.
  • Previous experience in working with non-profits.
Additional Information:
  • Position is part-time, planned work schedule 3 days per week, approximately 7 hours per day as coordinated with supervisor not to exceed 21 hours per week.
