Specialist, Global Entertainment Partnerships & Strategy

Since 1941, the USO has been the nation’s leading organization to serve the men and women in the U.S. military, and their families, throughout their time in uniform. From the moment they join, through their assignments and deployments, and as they transition back to their communities, the USO is always by their side.

Today’s USO continuously adapts to the needs of our men and women in uniform and their families, so they can focus on their very important mission. We operate USO centers at or near military installations across the United States and throughout the world, including in combat zones, and even un-staffed USO service sites in places too dangerous for anyone but combat troops to occupy.

The Specialist, Global Entertainment Partnerships & Strategy serves as the internal project manager for the Global Entertainment, Partnerships & Strategy team and is responsible for tracking the team’s strategic talent partnership goals, including measuring the impact of talent acquisition and oversees the talent travel and ticketing programs.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee all USO talent travel bookings tied to USO tours and events, working closely with USO’s external agency to provide white glove service to talent. Implement necessary enhancements or adjustments to the booking process as required. Conceive solutions to unique issues and problems for the Entertainment Partnerships & Strategy team while working simultaneous projects.*
  • Oversee tracking, distribution and receiving of all administrative documents required for in-person talent engagements, working closely with the DOD to provide items in a timely manner. Responsibilities include –creating and distributing talent toolkits (including social media and press information), talent and tour participant waivers and welcome packets; collecting passports and facilitating visa processes; and various other tasks required for in-person USO entertainment programming.*
  • Provide oversight to the USO’s entertainment ticketing program, including tracking the distribution of a high volume of ticketing opportunities. Specific tasks include approaching talent/agents about participating in the program, tracking in-kind donations, and facilitating all internal ticket distributions and report on tickets.*
  • Maintain USO celebrity and media brand profile database and issue reports from the database. Conceive of new metrics and create customized reports and presentations from the database for Director, Entertainment Partnerships & Strategy and Director, Global Entertainment based upon organizational priorities.*
  • Serve as the subject matter expert in new talent trends. Perform in-depth research to identify our core audience’s interests and inform the USO’s celebrity outreach strategy. Establish a talent procurement list to inform long-lead strategic planning with new talents or brands and vet these prospects against USO’s content and guidelines.
  • Build and manage effective working relationships with internal and external partners to ensure entertainment-related engagements and activities are communicated and leveraged; gather customer insights, internal stakeholder expertise, and feedback to support cross departmental projects/campaigns/activations; develop Entertainment partners to help inform Entertainment leadership’s decision-making and planning.*
  • Compile and create key internal and external presentations used in talent outreach efforts, and design, improve and present for adoption new reports based on business needs.*
  • As required, provide administrative support to Entertainment Partnerships & Strategy team (expense reports, team reporting); track and report on alignment of Entertainment programming with audience interests.*
  • As required, travel on USO tours/events in times of heavy volume.*
  • Receive and respond to internal & external inquiries related to celebrity recruitment (requests received via Spartan).*
  • Keep abreast of industry and identify intra-departmental trends, and advocate for improvement recommendations related to industry factors and trends to promote storytelling and reaffirm the impact of celebrity supporters.*
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Specifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations or related field preferred.
  • 3-5 years work experience in an administrative or support role, preferably in the sports or entertainment industry. Relevant experience in a not-for-profit, multicultural, corporate and/or global organization preferred.
  • Working knowledge of music, TV, film, sports, pop culture. General awareness of complex cultural sensitivities of a variety of domestic and international locations.
  • Strong problem solving, interpersonal and customer service skills. Ability to interact with USO Leadership, celebrities and/or their agents, the general public and military audiences at a variety of levels with integrity and professionalism.
  • Proficiency using computers and electronics equipment. General knowledge of various software, applications and programs including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite to include SharePoint, Photoshop, Illustrator. Prior experience using social media (e.g., Twitch, Facebook, Instagram and Tiktok) and online communication tools in a business environment preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment related to controversial and/or culturally sensitive subjects. Ability to handle confidential information with tact and poise.
  • Must be able to multi-task and be punctual, organized and self-motivated, with the ability to quickly and easily adapt to changing organizational needs.
  • Ability to achieve desired results while working collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to perform basic math and follow proper cash/donation handling and reporting procedures and the ability to manage multiple projects with competing priorities.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain proper credentials necessary to access USO Center locations and facilities including but not limited to security, credit and/or background screening, SOFA status, valid driver’s license.
  • Willingness and ability to work non-standard hours and/or overtime as needed.
  • Must be a strong advocate of the USO’s mission.


  • This position reports to the Arlington, VA office. Candidates can be located in Washington, DC, Nashville, TN, or Los Angeles, CA.
  • USO locations will adhere to local area and DOD guidelines regarding COVID vaccination/testing requirements. Employees may be required to be vaccinated or tested regularly per local requirements.
