The Director, Corporate Development is responsible for building a robust portfolio of corporate donors to financially support the USO of Metropolitan New York, a non-profit whose mission is to strengthen America’s military service members by keeping them connected to family, home and country, throughout their service to the nation.

The Director, Corporate Development will be part of a team of dynamic development professionals working with corporations interested in supporting our military and their families. Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, this role is responsible for deepening and growing existing relationships with USO partners while expanding our corporate donor portfolio into new categories. Revenue generation and growth will be a key deliverable for this role.

Day to day, this position will oversee donor cultivation, stewardship and reporting including communications, contract negotiations, program activation, integration and coordination across USO departments ensuring a high level of service and support.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  •  Develop and implement long term and short-term strategies to secure gifts and sponsorships from corporations and in some cases, individuals and foundations to increase financial support for mission impact through our programs.
  •  Proactively develop and lead the strategic process for identification, cultivation and solicitation of sponsorship and contributions from corporations.
  •   Cultivate and steward a portfolio of corporate donors; focus on growth.
    •  Identify new ways to engage corporations; workplace giving, volunteerism, sponsorship.
    •   Manage the development of compelling donor proposals and presentations.
    •   Participating in and/or leading sponsor presentations.
    •   Effectively manage, deliver, measure and report on sponsor activations.
    •   Conduct face-to-face meetings and tours.
    •   Develop new sponsorship opportunities across all USO programs and services.
    •   Oversee donor giving campaigns.
    •   Maintaining sponsorship database using Raiser’s Edge and producing monthly reports.

Required Qualifications

  •  Bachelor’s Degree
  •  Minimum 7-10 years of demonstrated experience in fundraising or related field.
  •  Strong interpersonal and persuasive written and oral communication skills.
  •  Ability to manage a high volume of assignments with varying complexity and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment with integrity and professionalism.
  •  Knowledge of various software programs including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook.
  •  Demonstrated initiative, self-motivation, attention to detail, organizational and time management skills.
  •  Must be a strong advocate of the USO’s mission to support active duty military and their families.
  •  Must be able to travel.
