About the Role: Center Operations Manager

As a Center Operations Manager, you are the heartbeat of one or more USO Centers. You create a welcoming, safe, engaging environment for service members and their families. You lead a team of staff and volunteers, coordinate programs and events, and ensure every service member who walks through our doors feels supported, appreciated, and at home.

This is a hands-on leadership role perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, people-centered, mission-driven environment.


What You’ll Do

Operational Leadership

  • Ensure Centers are clean, inviting, safe, and fully operational
  • Maintain equipment, enforce health and food safety standards, and uphold USO operating procedures
  • Oversee financial activities including budgeting, cash handling, inventory, and reporting

Program & Event Management

  • Lead high-quality programming on and off military installations
  • Plan, execute, and evaluate events, services, and new program initiatives
  • Manage services and activities within approved budgets

Team Leadership & Volunteer Management

  • Coach and mentor staff
  • Recruit, schedule, train, and recognize volunteers
  • Foster a positive, collaborative, mission-first team culture

Community & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build strong relationships with U.S. military partners, local community leaders, donors, and media
  • Develop stories, photos, and updates to share across communication channels
  • Represent the USO with professionalism, integrity, and enthusiasm

Additional Responsibilities

  • Maintain SOPs and Emergency Preparedness Plans
  • Conduct accountability checks and report incidents as required
  • May operate a USO or personal vehicle
  • Support leadership and perform other duties as needed

What We’re Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s Degree preferred)
  • 5+ years in operations, event management, or marketing; 1+ years supervisory experience
  • Strong leadership, customer service, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to adapt quickly, multitask effectively, and remain detail-oriented
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and general comfort with technology
  • Ability to obtain/maintain background checks, credentials, passport, and driver’s licenses as required
  • Must be a strong advocate for the USO mission

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a nonprofit, military, or multicultural/global organization
  • Familiarity with volunteer management systems (Digital Cheetah experience a plus)
  • Fluency in English; host-country language proficiency preferred
